Laura's symptoms of fatigue and depression related to an earlier diagnosis of Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) were compounded by the onset of peri-menopausal symptoms including hot flashes and sleepless nights. She felt tired and drained and like she had lost her spark for life. She missed having the energy to live a full and active life. Homeopathy is an effective approach for menopause and helped Laura move gracefully into menopause symptom free.

Homeopathy for Menopause and Epstein Barr Virus: EBV is an autoimmune response due to a low functioning immune system and complicates menapause. Homeopathy effectively addresses symptoms of both menopause and EBV simultaneously
In our culture menopause is a big bucket in which we tend to dump many different conditions that arise at a time of life when a lot of things in our life are changing - kids are growing up and going off to college or leaving home, our bodies are starting to show signs of aging and we often feel drained, confused and don't know where to turn for help. Because Homeopathy addresses health holistically, it doesn't really matter whether your symptoms are related to menopause or not. Hot flashes, night sweats, fatigue and moodiness can be effectively treated whether they are a direct result of menopause or some other cause such as adrenal burn out or simply growing older. In homeopathy, we treat the whole symptom picture not just one or two symptoms. So in Laura's case whether her fatigue was related to menopause or to EBV did not make any difference in finding the right remedy for her. Laura had a background of feeling left out. With a dark-skinned father from one culture and a light-skinned mother from another culture, Laura grew up being teased for being neither white nor black. She didn't understand where she was supposed to "fit" in society and was not able to identify fully with either her mother's white culture or her father's black culture. She used eating as a way to calm her stress and anxiety. Eventually, this led to a weakened immune system making her susceptible to disease. Disease eventually manifested as Epstein Barr Virus and although she was able to overcome that disease, it left her feeling weak and fatigued. So when she entered peri-menopause, her body had very little energy for coping with the onset of menopause. I selected a remedy that took into account the totality of her symptom picture: her feelings of not belonging to one culture or the other, her tendency to retreat into seclusion when she felt anxious or stressed and her physical symptoms of feeling constantly tired, unmotivated, and the most recent symptoms of night sweats and sleeplessness. I gave her several doses of a single remedy over the course of three months.
After Treatment Laura's Energy Returned
Following her homeopathic treatment that addressed not only her symptoms of menopause but also the fatigue and other symptoms associated with Epstein Barr Virus, Laura's hot flashes stopped, her vital energy returned, and she was able to get a good night's sleep for the first time in many months. She continued to sleep well and her body started to regain its strength. She found her spark again and even started an early morning exercise routine that made her feel vital and alive, and like her old self again.
